The US military has struck a tanker attempting to break Iran's maritime blockade in the Gulf of Oman.
Medianews.az reports that a spokesperson for the US military told CNN: "Today, the US military disabled a tanker after its crew attempted to violate the US maritime blockade in the Gulf of Oman at least four times."
According to the military official, the crew received multiple warnings but did not comply, and US forces fired on the ship's engine room, disabling it. He added that the ship is no longer carrying cargo for Iran.
As the channel noted, this is the first time the US military has disabled a commercial vessel since the US reinstated the blockade earlier this month.
