What is the longest human lifespan? — RESEARCH

New research conducted by Russian scientists has revealed interesting findings about the maximum limit of human lifespan. The study shows that although it may be possible to completely halt the aging process, humans cannot live biologically forever.

According to the research, somatic DNA mutations inevitably accumulate in cells over time and may be one of the main factors limiting human lifespan. According to the mathematical model developed by the scientists, the theoretical upper limit of human lifespan can vary between approximately 146 and 194 years.

Researchers modeled a theoretical scenario in which all aging-related diseases are eliminated. Even in such a situation, it was determined that random mutations in DNA continue to accumulate and gradually disrupt normal cellular function over time.

The study particularly emphasizes the role of brain and heart cells. Since these cells renew themselves very weakly, mutations accumulate over the years and their function gradually weakens. Tissues like skin and liver, on the other hand, can compensate for some of the damage because they continuously renew their cells.

The authors of the study state that the results do not mean that humans will definitely live 150 or 190 years in the future. According to them, the developed model only evaluates the possible impact of DNA mutations on human lifespan and is not presented as the sole cause of aging.

It should be noted that the currently scientifically confirmed longest human lifespan is 122 years and 164 days. This shows that there is still a significant difference between theoretical calculations and real life.

Though the results of the study bring a new perspective to scientific discussions about the biology of aging, specialists emphasize the need for additional research to draw firm conclusions about the maximum limit of human lifespan.Demokrat.az
