The list of the best countries to move to has been announced: Switzerland is the leader.

If you are planning to start a new life with your family or looking for the perfect balance between the cost of living and quality of life, the "Immigration Index 2026" report recently published by the company "Remitly" reveals the most attractive routes for migration.

According to Milli.Az, this index evaluates 82 countries based on 34 different criteria, including financial indicators such as food, rent, mortgage costs, and purchasing power, as well as culture, education system, happiness index, healthcare services, safety, and salaries.

The top 10 best countries to migrate to in 2026 (Overall Ranking)
Switzerland, which placed second last year, has taken the lead in the 2026 list. According to Remitly's report, Switzerland is number one worldwide due to its high earning potential, strong healthcare system, and safety standards.

The top ten in the overall ranking are as follows:

Switzerland

Iceland (lost the lead due to the low number of international schools)

Luxembourg (stability and excellent transport system in the center of Europe)

Australia (the only country outside Europe in the top five)

Germany (strong labor rights and long-term career opportunities)

Ireland

USA

Denmark

Norway

Spain

The most suitable countries for families
When considering conditions for families with children, education system, maternity/paternity leave duration, and childcare costs, the ranking changes completely:

Spain ranks first for families with children due to its strong social infrastructure and affordable living conditions.

In this category, only three other European countries besides Spain made the top 10: the United Kingdom (8th), Iceland (9th), and Croatia (10th).

The rest of the list is completed by China, the USA, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, and Bangladesh.

Countries with the best balance between living costs and income
When comparing rent, home ownership costs, and daily necessities prices relative to salaries, a different picture emerges:

Saudi Arabia leads this list due to high salaries and easier home ownership. (Note: The data was collected before the US-Israel attack on Iran).

In Europe, the country offering the best balance by this indicator is Norway (4th overall). It is immediately followed by Denmark (5th). Luxembourg is 8th, and Ireland is 9th.

Bangladesh (2nd), the USA (3rd), Oman (6th), Pakistan (7th), and Nepal (10th).
