The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) has announced the new rankings of national teams.
According to Medianews.az, the top three in the list are Spain, Argentina, and France.
The Azerbaijan national team is ranked 127th among 210 national teams.
Iran is 20th, Turkey 25th, Ukraine 28th, Russia 33rd, Uzbekistan 50th, Georgia 73rd, Belarus 99th, Tajikistan 101st, Kyrgyzstan 104th, Armenia 106th, Kazakhstan 115th, Estonia 130th, Turkmenistan 137th, Latvia 140th, Lithuania 146th, Moldova 158th.
The ranking is based on the results obtained by taking into account the importance of the matches and the opponents' positions before the game. The coefficient for an official friendly match is at least 5 and at most 10, the minimum coefficient for a match in an international tournament is 15, and the maximum coefficient is 60.
A win in regular and extra time is worth 1 point, a win in the penalty shootout is 0.75 points, and a loss in that shootout is 0.5 points.
The Azerbaijan national team, participating in international tournaments since 1994, has been eliminated in the qualifying rounds of 8 European Championships, 8 World Cups, and the group stage of 4 Nations Leagues.
