We award artists, directors, actors, and theater workers on their anniversaries and at the end of the year. It is necessary to reward artists so that they become motivated and can create new roles. I also continue my activity at the Academic National Drama Theater and I am involved in 7 performances.” This was stated to Medianews.az by People's Artist, Chairman of the Theater Workers' Union Haji Ismailov.
He then spoke about his film career and noted that although he has acted in few films, those films have made a mark on the history of Azerbaijani cinema: “There are actors who work in theater all their lives but cannot find their roles. They play this role, they play that role.. I am happy about one thing, that in my creativity there is a character like Mustafa. This happened unexpectedly for me. Thanks to Rasim Ocaqov, I acted in this film. The films ‘Both Pilgrimage and Trade’ and ‘Birthday’ were enough for me to be recognized as an actor and to show what I can do. After that, I was not very eager to act in films. There are actors who barely manage to force the director to stage a certain play for them. I don’t have that. I wait for a play to be taken up, and whatever role they offer me, I play that role. I feel like I have done what I needed to do. I’m not at that age anymore. Sometimes, theater directors also need to be careful about this. They must know how to utilize each actor.”
