Algeria national team captain Aissa Mandi shared his thoughts after their 0-3 loss to Argentina in the first round of the 2026 World Cup.
According to Medianews.az, Mandi stated that the match was decided by Messi's high skill.
"They have a player in their squad who has a very high ability to convert dangerous chances into goals. Perhaps he is the strongest player of all time. We knew how effective he was and tried to keep close watch on him as much as possible. However, we could not achieve that. In this game, he was simply stronger than us," said the captain of Algeria’s national team.
In the match held in Kansas City, Argentina national team leader Lionel Messi scored a hat-trick and played the main role in his team’s victory.
It should be noted that with the three goals he scored in this game, Messi became the architect of Argentina’s first win in the 2026 World Cup.
