Another virus hundreds of American tourists engaged in battle

At the end of April, a mass outbreak of gastrointestinal infection was recorded on the "Caribbean Princess" cruise ship that departed from Florida.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported this based on laboratory tests.

It was stated that the deterioration of the tourists' health was caused by the highly contagious norovirus.

According to the official information from the sanitation department, during the trip, signs of acute poisoning were observed in more than a hundred passengers, which constitutes approximately three percent of the total number of vacationers. Additionally, thirteen crew members were also infected. All patients suffer from the classic symptoms of the virus, and disinfection measures have been intensified in the ship’s common areas.

The "New York Times" publication wrote that the ship left the port of the state of Florida on April 28 and is currently sailing along the northern coasts of the Dominican Republic. The liner’s medical service is implementing strict isolation of the sick to prevent further spread of the infection in the confined space, and the situation is under the supervision of specialists.

According to the itinerary, the ship is expected to make a planned stop soon in Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas. The port authorities and local sanitation agencies have already been informed about the infection cases on board to take high precautionary measures during the ship's docking and contact with tourists./publik.az
