The detention period of Ceyhun Salmanov, the head of the "Qurtuluş" Rehabilitation Center, and two other employees of the center has been extended.
Medianews.az reports that a decision was made at the Sumgait City Court regarding this matter. According to the decision, the detention period for Ceyhun Salmanov, Natiq Aliyev, and Elshad Maharramov has been extended by 2 months.
It should be noted that a criminal case has been initiated at the Sumgait city prosecutor's office regarding the illegal activities that occurred at the establishment of "Qurtuluş Rehabilitation Center" LLC located in Sumgait city, and a preliminary investigation is underway. Based on the initial investigative measures, it has been established that the director of the said LLC, Ceyhun Salmanov, in conspiracy with Elshad Maharramov, Natiq Aliyev, and others unknown to the investigation, at different times brought more than 7 individuals to the center's institution (residential house) located in Corat settlement, Sumgait city, using force and deception, held them unlawfully and against their will in custody, deprived them during their detention of the opportunity to contact relatives, including access to mobile phones and other communication means, subjected them to various forms of physical and psychological torture, and there is substantial suspicion that they caused injury to the health of several of the detained individuals.
It has been stated that based on the collected evidence, Ceyhun Salmanov, Elshad Maharramov, and Natiq Aliyev have been charged under Articles 127.1 (intentional infliction of minor bodily harm), 133.2.1, 133.2.3 (torture by a group of persons acting in concert to two or more people, including abducted persons), 144.3 (kidnapping causing serious consequences), 145.2.1, and 145.2.4 (illegal deprivation of liberty of two or more persons by a group of persons acting in concert) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and following a motion by the investigative body and presentation by the prosecutor overseeing the preliminary investigation, the Sumgait City Court decided to impose a detention measure.
