The number of people who changed their first name, last name, and patronymic during the current period of 2026 has been announced.
In response to Trend's inquiry, the Ministry of Justice reported that during the current period of 2026, 558 people changed their last name, first name, and patronymic.
The reasons usually stated include the citizens' own wishes, the desire to return to the surname before marriage, the husband's (wife's) wish to carry a common surname, the desire to carry the name and patronymic of the person who raised the applicant, and other reasons.
Also, during 2026, 5 men took their wife's surname upon marriage.
