The billionaire attributed the reason for this acquaintance to the large number of wealthy people around Epstein and the promise that he could raise large donations for global health projects. Gates said he attended several dinners over about three years.
Gates emphasized that he never went to Epstein's private island, which is known for pedophilia and illegal activities. He said he did not meet any women through him.
He claimed that the draft messages found in Epstein’s email account about Gates arranging meetings with women were completely false and fabricated by Epstein.
Bill Gates's wife, Melinda French Gates, stated that society should hold directly accountable those named in the actions of Epstein and his circle, not herself. This statement has further increased public pressure on Bill Gates.
The billionaire businessman noted that as the true face of Epstein emerged, many regretted knowing him: "Spending time with him was a big mistake. I am not the only one who regrets knowing him."
