The refereeing in the second leg of the Azerbaijan Cup semifinal between "Sabah" and "Qarabağ" has caused significant debates.
Medianews.az and QOL.az report that the most controversial moment in the game was the head referee Rəvan Həmzəzadə's decision not to award a penalty after a "Sabah" player touched the ball with his hand inside the penalty area in the final seconds of the match.
Former "Qarabağ" legionnaire Yassin Benzia also commented on the referee's management. The Algerian midfielder currently playing for Saudi Arabia's "Al-Fayha" club called the refereeing a disgrace in a post on his official Instagram account. He also added a clown emoji to his remarks:
"The referee is a disgrace. Only in this way can the country's best team be defeated."
Recall that the first leg, which ended 2-2, was followed by the second leg where "Sabah" won 2-1.
