It was stated that Nani Adaobi Merian suffered severe injuries during Russia's attack on Kharkiv on June 29. As a result of that attack, the university's Azerbaijani student
Fatimə Huseynova was killed, and 10 others were injured. Both students had gone to the university that day to receive their diplomas.
It was noted that Nani Adaobi Merian was initially treated in Kharkiv and then in Germany.
According to information provided by relatives, approximately 90 percent of the student's body was burned, she lost one eye, suffered severe burns to her respiratory tract, and one leg was amputated.
