"Barcelona"'s sporting director Deco spoke about the club's decision to appoint Hans-Dieter Flick as head coach in 2024.
Oxu.Az reports that he said they needed a coach who could bring calm to the dressing room:
"After Xavi, especially considering the age of the players, we realized that we needed a coach who could bring calm to the dressing room. We have always had a very specific dressing room. Now it is more balanced. We still have many young players, others are at the peak of their form, while we also have more experienced players like Raphinha, Frenkie de Jong, and Jules Koundé. Also, there is Robert Lewandowski, and the former captain Marc-André ter Stegen, who is currently on loan."
"It is very important to manage such a dressing room. The key to success is having a coach who has extensive experience in the dressing rooms of big clubs. Flick worked as an assistant coach for the German national team and has long-term coaching experience. That was the main idea," Deco noted.
