The Media Development Agency currently provides financial support to six daily newspapers ("Yeni Müsavat", "Yeni Azərbaycan", "525-ci qəzet", "Bakı xəbər", "Səs", "Şərq"). Each of these newspapers receives 15,000 manats per month, and their websites receive 3,000 manats.
However, starting from 2026, the agency will only provide financial assistance for printing one issue of each newspaper per week. For this purpose, they will be given 5,000 manats per month. The monthly financial support of 3,000 manats for each newspaper's internet version will remain unchanged.
Due to the reduction in financial aid for print editions, the leaders of "Yeni Müsavat", "Səs" newspapers and "525-ci qəzet" have announced that they have decided to change the publication frequency. Starting next year, "Yeni Müsavat" and "525-ci qəzet" will be published once a week, while "Səs" newspaper will be issued twice a week.
The editor-in-chief of "Bakı xəbər" newspaper, Aydın Quliyev, stated in an interview with Medianews.az on December 23 that they have also decided to switch to a weekly publication.
According to A. Quliyev, starting from January 2026, they plan to meet readers on Fridays: "Initially, 'Bakı xəbər' will still be published with 16 pages. Later, we may increase the number of pages. There is also the possibility of including a supplement within the newspaper."
Since its inception in 2003, "Bakı xəbər" newspaper has published 5,555 issues.
