Videos showing crocodiles swimming in the Baş Şirvan collector have spread on social networks. However, investigations conducted in the area revealed that these images do not reflect the truth and are completely fake.
This was reported in a video material by Baku TV.
The filming crew spoke with people fishing in the mentioned area. Residents and fishermen also stated that they had watched the videos circulating on the internet but noted that the images were false. One of the residents who has been fishing in the area for years commented on the situation as follows:
"We have been fishing in the Şirvan canal for years, we have been around here. We are familiar with almost all water basins of Azerbaijan. The circulated images are completely false information. It is impossible for there to be a crocodile in Azerbaijan, in this climate. The videos shared on social networks were very likely created with artificial intelligence or belong to other countries. There is no credibility at all."
Another fisherman emphasized that they know the Lower and Upper Şirvan canals well, and such a creature has never been encountered there:
"After seeing this video, we shared the footage with familiar fishermen in the Yevlakh, Kürdəmir, Ağsu, and Oğuz's Xalxal areas. Everyone knows this is fabricated information. There cannot be a crocodile in the Şirvan canal."
