People's Artist Alim Qasimov commented on the scandal that occurred in the final of the IX "Mugham" Television Competition.
Medianews.az, citing Bakupost.az, reports that the artist spoke about this in the "Daha aydın" project.
A. Qasimov clarified why he did not participate as a jury member:
"There have been proposals for me to be a jury member. However, due to my personality, I do not want to hurt the children’s feelings there or have the jurors be upset with me. Later I would scold myself, asking if this was necessary. There, regardless of my own will, I would have to say what is right or wrong. Then the child's father or uncle will say, 'You are a big man, why did you embarrass him?' I do not want to be troubled by these issues; 'a hungry stomach, a peaceful mind.' It is something like that... Fortunately, history has no umpires. While I am alive, I can act as an umpire and add to history. But after death, history will cleanse like a sea and throw the residues ashore. History is not made with wealth or bribery. One can choose this profession, one can win in competitions, but so what? If there is talent, one will have it in this art even without competitions. Talent is something that comes from God. No one can block it."
Alim Qasimov emphasized that he does not sincerely accept the scores his colleagues gave to the participants in the competition:
"I do not take that competition seriously. I cannot say anything about injustices in the selection because I neither watch nor interfere. Because it is not done heartily. One gives 9 points, and everyone also gives 9. Why should I pay attention to that? One should give 3, another 5, another 10. If there is something debatable, it means there is truth there. Everyone should have their own opinion. The jurors respect each other there."
It should be noted that Kenan Novruzov, one of the participants in the mentioned competition, claimed that he was treated unfairly in the contest. He refused the diploma awarded to him in this year's final.
