"Səbail" has not lost the chance for the championship in the Azerbaijan First League.
This was stated by the head coach of the mentioned team Adil Şükürov in an interview with "Report".
The specialist evaluated the game against the leader "Şəfa" in the 14th round held the previous day:
"We knew in advance that the game would be difficult because we were playing against the leader of the tournament table. We had analyzed the advantages of "Şəfa". Although we had some goal opportunities in the middle of the first half, unfortunately, we could not capitalize on them. Even though we did not score, we implemented what we had planned during the match. Our main goal was not to fall out of the championship race. For that, it was important for us to gain points. Our chance for the championship has not disappeared."
A. Şükürov believes that the team will perform better after injured players return to the lineup:
"We are thinking about the upcoming games. There are injured players in the squad. We are waiting for their return to the lineup. Currently, there is a tight competition in the tournament table, and the teams are very close to each other. This makes the championship battle even more interesting. Hopefully, we want to finish the next games with victories with a full squad."
It should be noted that in the "Səbail" - "Şəfa" match held the day before yesterday, no goals were scored. "Şəfa" leads the tournament table with 32 points. "Səbail", with 26 points, is third.
