US President Donald Trump has signed an order directing federal agencies to withdraw the country from 66 international organizations.
Medianews.az reports that according to the January 7 order, participation and funding in 31 UN structures and 35 non-UN organizations must be stopped.
The decision was justified by the fact that participation in those 66 organizations does not align with the interests of the United States.
Among the organizations the US intends to leave are the UN Alliance of Civilizations, the Democracy Fund, the Climate Change Framework Convention, and the Population Fund.
Born in 1946, Donald Trump is a member of the Republican Party. He defeated Hillary Clinton of the Democratic Party in the 2016 presidential election and began his presidency on January 20, 2017.
Donald Trump was defeated by Joseph Biden, the Democratic Party's candidate, in the 2020 presidential election and left office on January 20, 2021.
In the 2024 presidential election, having defeated Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party's candidate, Donald Trump became the head of state again on January 20, 2025.
