They did this for Bruce Lee after 53 years

The legendary martial artist, actor, and director Bruce Lee will now be officially commemorated in California.

With a new law signed by California Governor Gavin Newsom, May 17 has been officially declared "Bruce Lee Day."

Bruce Lee was born in California in 1940 during the U.S. tour of his family, who were Chinese opera performers.

Spending his childhood in Hong Kong and returning to the U.S. at the age of 18, Lee stepped into the film world there.

With films such as "The Big Boss," "The Green Hornet," "Fist of Fury," and "Enter the Dragon," Bruce Lee introduced Kung Fu to the whole world and fought against racism and the stereotypical roles assigned to him throughout his career.

By introducing Chinese martial arts and philosophy to the entire world and playing a major role in gaining respect for Eastern culture, Lee passed away in 1973 at the young age of 32.
