Attention to those who do sports in the summer

It is possible to exercise in the summer heat, but a number of important rules must be followed for this.

Experts state that physical activity in high temperatures puts more strain on the body, causing quicker fatigue. In hot weather, the body sweats more to cool itself, blood is directed to the surface of the skin, and less oxygen reaches the muscles. As a result, the heart has to work harder and endurance decreases.

Exercising during the cooler hours of the day — early in the morning or in the evening — is considered safer. Exercising at noon, especially under strong sunlight, is not recommended. Training in shaded and cool environments prevents the body from overheating. In hot weather, it is important to reduce the intensity of exercise, increase breaks, and drink enough water. The body should not become dehydrated. During breaks, resting in a cool place and cooling the body is beneficial.

Also, cooling the hands, arms, and body with cool water reduces heat stress. Light cooling methods before and after exercise also help the body adapt to the heat.

The body can gradually adapt to a hot environment, but this process takes time and the adaptation can weaken after a break.

If during exercise dizziness, nausea, severe weakness, or palpitations are felt, the exercise should be stopped immediately and you should move to a cool environment. In the future, with rising temperatures, people should choose the time, place, and intensity of exercise more carefully.Demokrat.az
