Within one year since the overthrow of the Assad regime on December 8, 2024, 578,000 Syrian refugees have returned to their homeland from Turkey.
Oxu.Az reports that Turkey's Minister of Interior, Ali Yerlikaya, stated this on social media.
"When the civil war started in Syria, in accordance with our historical heritage and civilization values, human rights, and laws, we embraced our Syrian brothers and sisters under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. During the most difficult times, we became a place of hope for them," the minister noted.
According to him, this process is not just a return movement, but also the restoration of good neighborly relations.
"We stand together with our Syrian brothers and sisters throughout the voluntary return process," Yerlikaya emphasized.
