In the city of Rijswijk, Suriname, at least nine people, including five children, died from stab wounds.
According to local authorities, a 43-year-old man attacked his children and then neighbors with a knife after arguing with his wife.
The suspect also attempted to attack police officers who arrived at the scene and was injured while being arrested.
Rijswijk police stated that another child and an adult were seriously injured and are being treated at a hospital in the capital, Paramaribo.
