Using ceramic cups with scratches on the inner surface poses a health risk.
According to Milli.Az, especially drinking hot tea or coffee in such cups increases the likelihood of exposure to heavy metals.
It is noted that ceramic cups are made from clay, and when the protective coating on them is damaged, the heavy metals contained in them begin to leach into food and beverages. Fine scratches on the inner surface of the cup accelerate this process further. Hot drinks are one of the main factors that increase the risk of heavy metals leaching into the beverage.
According to information, many homes still use scratched ceramic cups. However, such vessels are no longer considered suitable for use in the kitchen.
