Grapefruit is considered one of the most consumed and beneficial fruits of the winter season.
According to Milli.Az, Doctor of Biological Sciences Vera Kodentsova states that just three grapefruits can fulfill the entire daily vitamin C requirement for a person.
According to the expert, approximately 38 milligrams of vitamin C are found in 100 grams of grapefruit, which corresponds to 30 percent of the daily need. Thus, three medium-sized grapefruits are sufficient to strengthen the immune system.
The benefit of grapefruit is not limited to vitamin C alone. It contains flavonoids that have a strong antioxidant effect. These substances protect the body from oxidative stress, reduce inflammation of the blood vessels, normalize cholesterol levels, and support cardiovascular health. Flavonoids are especially abundant in the white part under the grapefruit peel and in the peel itself.
Grapefruit is also rich in potassium, magnesium, and fiber, which are essential for digestion.
However, the expert warns: grapefruit may cause allergies in some individuals. People with high stomach acidity, stomach ulcers, or intestinal inflammation should consume this fruit with caution.
