In order to ensure flight safety, the captain of the "Airbus A320" airplane belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), while performing flight J2-020 on the Saint Petersburg-Baku route, returned due to a technical reason (landing gear failure) and made a landing at Pulkovo Airport.
According to Milli.Az, the cause of the incident was the landing gear not functioning. Although the aircraft attempted to land three times, only the fourth attempt was successful.
Although the plane went off the runway, the pilots landed it under the supervision of firefighters and medical services, almost on sparks. No one was injured during the incident.
When the landing was completed, the passengers said in the cabin:
"We all survived, everything is fine. Bravo!"
