Russian football player Fyodor Smolov may be sentenced to three years in prison.
Oxu.Az reports this, citing Russian media.
According to the information, the football player is accused under Article 112 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - "Deliberate infliction of moderate bodily harm to health."
On May 28, Fyodor Smolov got into a fight with two men at the "Kofemaniya" cafe located in the center of Moscow and punched them. It is said that the football player acted this way in response to the persons discussing and insulting him loudly.
One of the men suffered a broken lower jaw and orbital wall. Doctors assessed the injuries of 52-year-old Vladimir Kuzminov as moderately severe.
Smolov apologized to the injured person and paid compensation in the amount of one million rubles (approximately 20,000 manat).
It is also reported that the football player initially promised to pay the victim five million rubles but eventually transferred only one million. After that, unknown persons contacted him and began to demand more money in order for the video not to be leaked on the internet. As a result, the football player filed a police complaint for extortion.
