Yogurt reduces the risk of cancer: New research

The relationship between gut health and nutrition has been one of the most studied topics in the scientific world in recent years. Newly published studies have shown that yogurt consumption positively affects the gut microbiome and protects against colorectal cancer.

Medianews.az, referring to Oxu.Az, reports that this information was published by Turkey's "Hürriyet" newspaper.

Turkish professor Aytaç Atamer stated that eating two servings of yogurt daily can reduce the risk of colorectal cancer by up to 20%. The professor, describing yogurt as a natural probiotic, noted that the probiotics it contains, especially lactobacillus and bifidobacteria species, help balance the intestinal flora.

The article states that yogurt is not only a source of probiotic bacteria but also rich in bioactive compounds and calcium.

Furthermore, the article mentions that consuming fiber-rich foods also assists in cleansing the intestine and eliminating harmful substances from the body. This group includes whole grains, oats, barley, bran bread, and legumes. Research shows that these foods also provide a protective effect against colorectal cancer.
