President of Iran: "The demand of the people must be met"

Iran President Masoud Pezeshkian has called on security forces to exercise maximum restraint against protesters who have been ongoing for more than 10 days within the country.

According to "Report," citing the "Al-Araby" TV channel.

"Any violent actions or coercion should be avoided. Extreme restraint must be applied, dialogue and peaceful communication established, and the demands of the Iranian people fulfilled," he said.

It should be noted that on January 8, large-scale demonstrations took place in Tehran, Tabriz, and Mashhad. In the capital, protesters gathered on Ayatollah Kashani Boulevard, as well as the Yusif and Azadi districts. They chanted slogans against the government and demanded improvements in living conditions.

The foreign opposition led by the son of the former Shah, Prince Reza Pahlavi, called for new strikes and demonstrations on Thursday.

According to "Al-Araby," these are the largest protests since the unrest following the death of 22-year-old activist Mahsa Amini, who was arrested by the morality police for violating women's dress codes in Iran during 2022-2023.
