According to the decision signed by Prime Minister Ali Asadov, the Institute of Control Systems and the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, subordinated to the Ministry of Science and Education, have been abolished, and a unified Institute of Mathematics has been established on their basis. Elxan Sabziyev, Doctor of Technical Sciences, has been appointed acting director of the newly established institute. Thus, the director of the abolished Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, former Minister of Education Misir Mardanov, has lost his position. Former Minister of Education Misir Mardanov gave an explanation to the Modern.az website about what activities he will be engaged in from now on. The ex-minister stated that there is a lot of work to be done: "I am the head of the Higher Mathematics Department at Baku State University, my plans are very extensive, I will continue my scientific research and work in the direction of teaching methodologies of mathematics. As well, I will continue my leadership of the works of the journal "Scientific Works" of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of ANAS, where I am the chief editor and which has a high reputation both in our country and internationally. There is indeed a lot of work to be done, provided God grants health!"
