Heavy blow to the cartel in Mexico: "The heir of 'El Menço' was arrested"

Mexican special forces have dealt a heavy blow to the "Jalisco New Generation Cartel" (CJNG), one of the country's most dangerous criminal groups.

Medianews.az reports that during the operation, one of the organization's main financial figures and a close associate of "El Mencho" was detained.

Audias Flores, nicknamed "Gardener," was captured after 19 months of surveillance. He was considered one of the highest-level commanders controlling vast areas along the cartel's Pacific coasts and was seen as a potential successor to the leader Nemesio Oseguera ("El Mencho").

In an operation carried out by the Mexican Navy, Flores was caught hiding in a mountainous area near Puerto Vallarta. The area was surrounded with 500 soldiers, helicopters, and military equipment. He was caught in a sewage tunnel while trying to escape.

Flores was wanted by the U.S. with a reward of 5 million dollars and was reported to lead a large network smuggling drugs into the country.

After his capture, cartel members blocked roads in the city of Reynosa, causing chaos. Several blockades were set up at various points, paralyzing traffic. Another suspect, leading financial operations, was also arrested within the scope of the same operation.
