Turkey's former opposition leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has been sentenced by court to 11 months and 20 days of imprisonment.
Medianews.az reports that he was found guilty on the charge of "insulting the president" due to the statements he made about Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The decision was made by the Mersin 3rd Criminal Court of First Instance.
Kılıçdaroğlu's lawyer described the decision as politically motivated and stated they will file an appeal and hope the sentence will be changed.
The politician earlier emphasized that he does not regret the statements he made.
