"My health is not at all satisfactory. I don’t have the strength and energy like before. My treatment is still ongoing. I have been suffering from the illness for a year and a half."
Medianews.az reports that this was said to "Yeni Sabah" by People's Artist Fatma Mahmudova.
She stated that after a long break she will play roles in two performances:
"Rehearsals are ongoing for two performances in which I will act at the Azerbaijan State Academic Musical Theater. I hadn’t been on stage for a long time. On May 1, I will have an episodic role in the play 'Husband and Wife.' On the 3rd, I will appear on stage with the play 'The Bride Worth Five Manats,' based on the work of Mammad Said Ordubadi."
The People's Artist said she would appeal to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation regarding her health and treatment process:
"My medicines are very expensive. I have no assistance. I live off the salary and pension I receive. I am very grateful that my two children are with me. Good friends and acquaintances are by my side. But how often can friends and acquaintances come to me? Everyone has their work and business. I don’t hold any grudge against anyone. My state is by my side. May God have mercy on the Great Leader.
One has to earn so much to be able to get out of this situation. You can’t make ends meet for anything. There is food, drink, doctors, and treatment. Medicines are also priced like firewood. If you can afford it, you live; if not, you die."
"I plan to apply to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. I hope they will support me as well. I have been on stage for 57 years. I have served in the national army and in the trenches of the Internal Troops. I hope all this will be taken into consideration."
It should be noted that Fatma Mahmudova had a stroke in January last year. She was admitted to the intensive care unit of the "Istanbul NS" clinic. In May, the artist’s arm was broken.
