“Habertürk” editor-in-chief detained

Mehmet Akif Ersoy, the editor-in-chief and presenter of "Habertürk" television operating in Turkey, has been detained within the framework of a narcotics operation.

According to a report by Milli.Az, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that detention decisions have been made for a total of 8 suspects on charges of "acquiring, receiving, possessing or creating conditions for the use of narcotic or psychotropic substances for personal use." Based on the prosecutor's directive, Ersoy and three others have already been detained.

According to information, another employee of Habertürk television - Foreign News Editor Elif Kılınç has also been detained within the investigation framework.

It should be recalled that a few days ago, in an operation conducted, well-known presenters Meltem Acet, Ela Rümeysa Cebeci, and Hande Sarıoğlu were also detained. After medical examinations, they were brought to the Istanbul Courthouse to give statements, and it was later reported that they would be released after completing procedures at the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK).
