The month of Ramadan is approaching its final days. In the last days, imsak meals become the main source of energy throughout the day. However, some foods eaten at imsak can cause dehydration and fatigue during the day.
Experts recommend choosing foods at imsak that do not irritate the stomach, keep you full, and maintain the body's resistance.
Medianews.az reports that the following products should not be at the sahur table:
- Salty foods – Reduce the body's water balance, increase saliva and stomach acid.
- Spicy and seasoned foods – Can cause heartburn and reflux.
- Sugary foods – Honey, jam, sweets, chocolate quickly raise and then lower blood sugar, causing both hunger and thirst.
- Foods made from dough – Such foods tire the stomach and slow down the digestive system.
- Fried and fatty foods – Fatty foods like potatoes, peppers, eggplants increase thirst; sausage, hot dogs, and pickles are not recommended at imsak.
- Caffeinated drinks – Coffee and carbonated drinks have a diuretic effect causing water loss; tea, herbal tea, and water are more suitable.
Proper nutrition at imsak is the key to being energetic and comfortable throughout the day.
