Today, at the Baku Court of Appeal chaired by judge Aqil Musayev, a decision was announced in the criminal case of Ulviyya Ilyasova, director of "AzE Estetik Mərkəz," who is accused of performing an aesthetic surgery on her brother-in-law's wife in Baku, which led to her death, and whose case was returned to the Baku Court of Appeal for reconsideration.
Medianews.az reports that, according to the decision, the verdict against her has been changed and she was sentenced to 3 years and 9 months of imprisonment. The Amnesty Act was applied to her. Her sentence was reduced by 6 months. Her sentence will start to be counted from October 10, 2025. She will serve her sentence in a general-regime penitentiary institution.
Let us recall that last year on April 16, a criminal case was initiated regarding the death of Sabira Valiyeva, born in 1984, after a surgical operation.
It was determined that on April 15, Ulviyya Ilyasova, director of "AzE Estetik Mərkəz" LLC, performed liposuction surgery on Sabira Valiyeva, her brother-in-law's wife (sister-in-law). Later, she took her to her home and kept her outside of medical supervision.
The next day, Sabira Valiyeva died due to acute bleeding.
Ulviyya Ilyasova was charged under Articles 143 (endangering) and 314.2 (negligence causing the death of a victim) of the Criminal Code. A preventive measure of police supervision was selected for her.
Regarding the case, all three parties – the victim, defendant, and prosecution – lodged complaints against the decision of Yasamal District Court on Ulviyya Ilyasova’s case. The Baku Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the first instance court.
It should be noted that according to the verdict of the first instance court, U. Ilyasova was deprived of the right to engage in activities requiring a special specialty in healthcare bodies for 3 years, and sentenced to 3 years and 2 months of imprisonment. It was decided that she would serve her sentence in a colony-type penal institution.
Later, the victim’s lawyer’s appeal against the decision of the Baku Court of Appeal to the Supreme Court was accepted: the decision of the Baku Court of Appeal was annulled and the case was sent back to that instance for reconsideration.
