The world's eyes are on Doha: USA and Iran at the same table

It is reported that the US and Iran have agreed to stop mutual attacks, and the parties will hold talks tomorrow in Doha, the capital of Qatar, to discuss their differences regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

Medianews.az reports that the US publication Axios has released information regarding this.

It is reported that the parties have reached a preliminary agreement to reduce military tensions.

One US official stated, "We have decided to stop all attacks." Another official said that while technical talks continue, both sides will temporarily withdraw and ships will be able to move freely in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the information, the talks initially planned to take place in Switzerland were supposed to be dedicated to Iran’s nuclear program. However, due to the recent military tensions, the location of the meeting was changed to Doha, and the main topic of discussion became the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. It is expected that Nik Stewart, the head of the US technical delegation, will also participate in the meeting.

Previously, Iranian official Mehdi Fazaili announced that his country's technical delegation did not participate in the meeting planned to be held in Switzerland and that the talks were canceled. According to him, Tehran refrained from participating in the meeting due to the military clashes that occurred in recent days.

Fazaili stated that Iran also made this decision to assess whether the other side had fulfilled certain conditions. Among those conditions is the issue of access to Iran’s frozen financial assets.

Earlier, "The Wall Street Journal" also wrote that the talks planned to be resumed between the US and Iran in Switzerland were postponed due to increasing tensions and mutual attacks. According to the information, the parties have temporarily suspended diplomatic contacts without setting a new date.
