In Europe, due to information security and cybersecurity risks, restrictions are being applied to certain messaging applications for government employees.
Medianews.az reports that a number of countries led by France and Germany are gradually restricting the use of American-based applications such as WhatsApp and Signal.
This step aims to protect sensitive data and increase oversight.
Governments of France, Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Belgium have already started transitioning in state institutions to alternative messaging systems operating on local and closed networks.
The main reason for the decision is cited as data sovereignty and security. The new systems will operate under state control.
