The cheapest way to get rid of the bad smell in the sofa

The bad smell coming from the sofa is often caused by pet hair, leftover food crumbs, moisture, and poor ventilation of the room. It is possible to eliminate this problem without buying expensive cleaning products. The main thing is to first identify the source of the smell and clean it.

Demokrat.az reports that if the sofa cover is removable, washing it according to the instructions gives good results. The non-removable parts must definitely be thoroughly cleaned with a vacuum cleaner. Especially dust accumulating between the cushions and under the sofa, if not cleaned, causes the odor to persist.

One of the simplest and most effective methods is baking soda. Sprinkle a thin layer of baking soda on the sofa and leave it for at least 20 minutes. Baking soda does not mask the odor; it absorbs it. Then clean the surface with a powerful vacuum cleaner. Another method is vinegar. White vinegar mixed with water can be lightly sprayed onto the sofa. As it dries, the bad smell disappears. The smell of vinegar itself quickly fades, leaving clean air behind.

If the odor has deeply penetrated, using a steam cleaner is more effective. Steam both reduces bacteria and penetrates down to the lower layers of the fabric.

Leather sofas require a different approach. It is recommended to wipe them with a small amount of soapy water and then apply a care product designed for leather. This also prevents the leather from drying out and cracking.

To keep the sofa always clean and fresh, vacuuming at least once a week and frequently ventilating the room is sufficient. Sunlight also reduces moisture and kills germs.
