According to Milli.Az, BMW, as one of the few companies among car manufacturers in Europe still using mechanical gearboxes, has submitted a new patent to protect the gearbox from the most common malfunctions.
The company stated that the new technology increases the durability of the gearbox and reduces the risk of drivers encountering mechanical problems. The patented solution will be especially useful in vehicles used under high-demand and harsh conditions.
This move by BMW is aimed at preserving the advantages of mechanical gearboxes at a time when other European manufacturers have switched to automatic transmissions.
