UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called on the Iranian authorities to show maximum restraint and avoid the use of excessive force.
The "Report" US bureau reports that UN Secretary-General's spokesperson Stephane Dujarric stated this.
"The United Nations (UN) is closely monitoring the protests and incidents of violence occurring in Iran and is seriously concerned about the casualties. At the same time, ensuring access to information in the country, including the restoration of communication links, is important," the spokesperson added.
He stated that the UN staff in the country are currently in a safe environment, and all connections are maintained as much as possible. The organization continues to monitor the developments and demands steps aimed at protecting the rights of Iranian citizens.
