Transfer frenzy continues in the Turkish Super League.
Medianews.az, citing local media, reports that the transfer expenditures of the “3 big” clubs – “Fenerbahçe”, “Galatasaray”, and “Beşiktaş” – have increased by 500 percent compared to the last 10 years.
The writer of the “Sözcü” newspaper, Ercan Taner, stated:
“We have been doing this job for years, but we have never seen such a transfer season.”
Football economist Tuğrul Akşar commented on this situation as follows:
“I have never witnessed transfers that are so irrational and beyond our financial power before. Where does this money come from? How is it met? I cannot find the answers to these questions.”
“Galatasaray” spent 131 million euros on transfers this summer. Just for these players:
- Osimhen – 75 million euros
- Uğurcan Çakır – 36 million euros
- Singo – 31 million euros
“Fenerbahçe” meanwhile spent 62 million euros. One of them:
- Kerem Aktürkoğlu – 25 million euros
Experts note that these expenditures exceed the real financial capabilities of the clubs and may cause major debt and bankruptcy risks in the future.
