The "Sheikh Lounge" restaurant located in the Gobustan settlement of the Qaradağ district of Baku was set on fire.
The initial cause of the fire is reported to be a dispute between two people. Specifically, after the dispute escalated into a fight, one of the parties poured gasoline on the mentioned establishment, started the fire, and then locked the door from behind to prevent customers from leaving the scene. It is reported that the person responsible for the incident is named Javid.
The lives of the customers were saved by the back door of the kitchen section of the catering establishment. It is known that as a result of the incident, one person sustained burn injuries to the leg and was hospitalized. There is currently no information about others being injured.
The catering establishment, managed by Nazir Qədirli and Jahangir Qadirov, suffered a total damage amounting to 120,000 AZN. Additionally, more than 20,000 AZN worth of material damage to customers is reported.
According to the information released by the Ministry of Emergency Situations regarding the incident, in the Qaradağ district of Baku city, under one roof, a one-story building with a total area of 600 m² housing various-purpose objects (a cafe, a car spare parts sales store, and car repair workshops), the combustible structures of the cafe occupying an area of 250 m² caught fire.
Elbrus Ibrahimov, an officer of the Press Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, stated in response to inquiries about the incident that the police received information about the deliberate arson of the mentioned catering establishment. Two individuals suspected of starting the fire were identified and detained. Investigations concerning the case are ongoing. (Bakupost.az)
