Within the scope of a large-scale narcotics investigation conducted by the Istanbul Republic Chief Prosecutor's Office, Sadeddin Saran, the president of the "Fenerbahçe" club and a businessman, has given a statement as a "suspect."
According to Musavat.com, within the investigation carried out by the Smuggling, Narcotics, and Economic Crimes Investigation Bureau of the prosecutor's office, an order was given for Sadeddin Saran to be brought to the Istanbul Justice Palace to give a statement.
Saran, who was reported to be abroad, returned to Istanbul by private plane during the night hours and gave a statement to the prosecutor for about two and a half hours at the Justice Palace in Çağlayan.
Within the investigation, Sadeddin Saran was sent to the Forensic Medical Institution to undergo a narcotics test. Blood and hair samples were taken from him there. After procedures lasting about 45 minutes, Saran was brought back to the Justice Palace.
According to official information, the charges brought against Sadeddin Saran are related to the articles "obtaining narcotic substances," "facilitating the use of narcotic substances," and "using narcotic substances."
It should be noted that a search was also conducted at Sadeddin Saran’s house within the scope of the investigation. Law enforcement officers determined that Saran was not at the address during the search. It was revealed that he was abroad at that time and was informed through his lawyers that he was called for a statement as a suspect.
Sadeddin Saran's lawyer, member of the Fenerbahçe Club Board, and legal expert Ali Alper Alpoğlu released a statement on his social media account, saying that Saran was abroad due to the Olimpia Milano – Fenerbahçe Beko basketball game and some transfer discussions. According to the statement, upon learning about the process, Saran immediately took action to return to Turkey and entered the country on the earliest possible flight.
Meanwhile, it is also reported that Sadeddin Saran was welcomed by a group of "Fenerbahçe" fans at the General Aviation Terminal of Atatürk Airport upon his arrival in Istanbul.
It should be recalled that in this narcotics investigation, operations have previously been conducted against several well-known individuals. During the third wave of operations, 8 people, including actress Saadet Ezgi Eyüboğlu, were detained. It was stated that narcotic substances, weapons, various devices, and counterfeit currency samples were found during the investigation.
