“My real art is singing. Acting is just my hobby. I didn’t want to shoot for the film “Music Teacher,” I objected. Later, the film’s composer Tofiq Guliyev and director Tofiq Ismayilov insisted that I should appear in the film. Also, since the film was built around music, I agreed to shoot. I did not participate at all in the film “The Groom’s Abduction.” The script was originally written for me. It was going to be a musical film. The director was Tofiq Ismayilov. Special songs were composed, and I was going to perform with a guitar. At that time, there was a change in the leadership of the film studio, and they took the film away from Teacher Tofiq. Also, frankly, I wasn’t very keen on shooting. I’m not regretful either. Now I still get offers, but I refuse. I feel that being on stage is more beautiful.” This was said to Medianews.az by People's Artist Sərxan Sərxan in his statement.

He later shared the secrets of how he always stays fit and young:
“I regularly engage in sports. I eat very little. I don’t eat everything, I feed on quality foods. Also, I definitely walk in the fresh air. This must be. When I am in Moscow, I walk a lot by the sea and ride a bicycle. When I do these things, my mood is also good.”

The People's Artist also spoke about the reasons why he rarely gives interviews. He stated that his interviews are distorted when conveyed to readers:
“I haven’t given interviews for a long time because my words get misunderstood. Some time ago, I was asked, ‘Do you see yourself on the same level as Rashid Behbudov, Muslim Magomayev?’ I didn’t answer this question at all. Audiences and followers unfairly pressed on me. Then I saw comments saying, ‘How can Serkhan put himself on the same scale as such great artists?’ I hadn’t answered at all. I just said that every era has its own demands and singer. I didn’t give any other answer. Also, another journalist once asked me about our music and pop scene in the 1990s. I said that in the 1990s, cities were full of forced migrants, and in such conditions people weren’t in the mood to go to the theater. It was really so. They turned my words upside down and wrote that supposedly I said that the countryside doesn’t know what theater is. How could I say such a thing? Then they admitted that they wrote it intentionally so that the article would get more reads. There were also artists who unknowingly talked about this topic.”
