Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky gave special attention to the Iran factor in his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, stating that Tehran is one of the main indirect partners of Russia in the war against Ukraine.
Musavat.com reports that Zelensky emphasized that the kamikaze drones and other military technologies provided by Iran to Russia are being used against civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, expanding the scale of the war. According to him, with these steps, Tehran is taking the conflict to a dangerous stage not only within the borders of Europe but also on the global security plane.
The Ukrainian president noted that as long as Iran’s military support to Russia goes unpunished, it sets a precedent for other authoritarian regimes. Zelensky called on Western countries to impose tougher sanctions against the Iran-Russia military cooperation, stating that this is necessary not only for the protection of Ukraine but also for the international security system.
At the end of his speech, Zelensky declared that if timely and principled reactions are not given to Iran’s behavior, similar scenarios could be repeated in other regions. According to him, neutralizing Iran's role in the war is one of the main conditions to weaken Russia’s military potential. Quote: "We produce about a thousand kamikaze drones a day. But it’s not enough. Russia sends about 500 Iranian drones and dozens of missiles daily. And why? There was much talk about protests in Iran, plans to support them were made, but no steps were taken, people were drowned in blood. The world did not provide enough help to the Iranian people and stood aside. By the time politicians began to form their positions, the Ayatollah had already killed thousands of protesters. As long as the Iranian regime exists, it will send a message to every tyrant: whoever has enough people - will remain in power."
