Not cold: The blueness on the skin may be a warning signal of danger.

Pale, bluish color changes observed on the skin during cold weather may not always be related to simple coldness.

In the winter months, many people overlook the slight bluish discoloration that appears on their hands, lips, or face by saying "I got cold." However, although this change is sometimes a normal reaction of the body, it can also appear as an early symptom of more serious problems.

According to Medianews.az, specialists state that in cold environments, the body directs blood circulation from the peripheral areas to the center to protect vital organs. As a result, bluish discoloration or a bluish hue appears on the skin.

However, if this condition recurs frequently and does not resolve quickly, it may indicate circulatory disorder — particularly a sign of Raynaud's phenomenon. In this case, the vessels overreact to cold, blood flow decreases, and the skin first whitens, then turns bluish, and finally reddens.

Doctors recommend not to consider such symptoms as simple coldness and to keep them under observation.
