Plumbers have reported that the dirtiest part in washing machines is the rubber gasket.
Demokrat.az reports that many people forget to clean this part, and as a result, dampness and mold odor arise in the washed clothes.
According to research, approximately 70 percent of users accumulate mold, dirt, and detergent residues under the rubber layer. This leads to the proliferation of bacteria and the emergence of unpleasant odors.
Technician Sergey Lavrov stated that in some machines, a layer of dirt several millimeters thick forms under the rubber.
"People are surprised when they see that the inside is completely blackened. This is especially dangerous if children's clothes are being washed," he noted.
Experts say that the self-cleaning mode alone does not fully solve the problem. According to them, the rubber part should be wiped at least once a month with vinegar, citric acid, or anti-mold agents.
Additionally, it is recommended to keep the machine door open after washing. This prevents the formation of moisture and condensation inside.
The other problematic part is considered to be the water drainage filter. Statistics show that 80 percent of users never clean this filter. Hair, coins, dust, and detergent residues accumulate in the filter, creating a favorable environment for the growth of microbes.
Plumbers recommend cleaning the filter every 2-3 weeks. Extra attention should be paid especially if there are pets or small children at home.
If the odor remains even after cleaning, the problem may originate from the sewage system or the water drainage hose. In this case, it is recommended to consult a technician.
