Color psychology can have a stronger impact on the first impression than words. The choice of clothing, on the other hand, is capable of shaping the attitude of people around even before the conversation starts.
Demokrat.az reports that this was stated by color psychology expert Michelle Lewis.
According to her, people often do not appreciate the importance of color tones in their daily appearance.
The expert noted that the human brain processes color faster than verbal information, and therefore color is considered one of the first signals in social communication.
"Remember that color is perceived in the brain before words. This is one of the first signals people receive from you," Lewis said.
The psychologist called the color orange the most effective choice to create an open and friendly image.
"Orange is the most pleasant color you can wear," the expert emphasized.
According to her, this color combines the energy of red with the optimism of yellow, creating a sense of warmth, openness, and social security.
"This color naturally spreads sociability that almost instinctively attracts people," Lewis added.
Other colors that increase openness
Along with orange, the expert also mentioned several other colors considered socially attractive:
*green — creates a feeling of calm, stability, and trust;
*blue — signals reliability and predictable behavior;
*purple — forms an atmosphere for more open and deep conversations.
Colors that can repel people
Some colors, however, can make a person appear more reserved in communication:
*black — can create a sense of coldness and distance;
*red — is associated with dominance and harshness;
*gray — "blends with the background" because it is overly neutral.
The specialist emphasized that clothing color is not only a style element but also a means of social communication. Properly chosen color can make a person appear more open, friendly, and noticeably communicative.
