In China, giant inflatable dome systems have begun to be used in some large construction projects. These structures, built in the city centers, fully enclose the work area aiming to reduce the spread of dust and noise outward.

According to Milli.Az, the system is especially applied in densely populated areas. Thanks to the inflatable structure that completely covers the construction site, it is reported that a large portion of the noise from heavy machinery and the fine dust released into the air is retained inside. According to local sources, this system can reduce dust pollution by up to 90 percent.

Giant inflatable zones are created

One of the most notable examples is the giant dome built in the Chinese city of Tszinan (Jinan). This structure, approximately the size of three football fields, is designed to completely cover the active construction site. The air pressure inside the dome is constantly balanced with special ventilation systems.

Within the structure, sensors for temperature, pressure, and air quality are installed. Filters and misting systems are also used to reduce particles in the air. Thus, the goal is to minimize the impact on the daily lives of people living nearby while construction continues.

The goal is to reduce pollution without stopping construction

Due to rapid urbanization in China, construction-related noise and air pollution in large cities have long been topics of discussion. Officials believe that such enclosed systems can especially become a standard in densely populated residential areas.

Within China's environmental and urban planning projects, it is planned to spread similar inflatable structures more widely by 2030. It is stated that the system will be given more priority in metro, residential building, and infrastructure projects, especially in large cities. Although similar systems have been previously tested on a small scale in different countries, the devices used by China are considered the largest examples implemented so far.
