The court process in the criminal case against Shaig Salmanov, who is accused of stabbing his cousin over a land dispute in Goychay, has concluded.
According to Oxu.az, the verdict was read at the Shaki Serious Crimes Court, and Shaig Salmanov was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment.
According to the charge, the incident occurred on March 22 of this year in the village of Bigir in the Goychay district.
There had been a long-standing dispute between village resident Shaig Salmanov, born in 1973, and his father's cousin, Nazir Salmanov, born in 1961, over a plot of land. N. Salmanov claimed that the land used by Shaig Salmanov belonged to him.
On March 22 of this year, Shaig went to visit his brother's family for the holiday. In the evening, on his way home, he saw that Nazir Salmanov had pulled back the fence between their yards and had planted trees along the old boundary. This caused a dispute among the relatives, which escalated into a fight. As a result, Shaig struck Nazir twice with a knife he was carrying.
Police officers arrived at the scene, and Shaig was detained.
A criminal case was initiated regarding the incident, and a pre-trial detention measure was chosen for Shaig Salmanov.
